About The Rifle Hall Trust

The group of trustees now know as the Rifle Hall Trust was formed in September of last year in order that when the Charitable status of the Hall was ready to be transferred, they where an established and properly formed group.

The original bid proposal was written by John Marshall–Potter who runs the towns annual three day music event “Gig in the Park” John was prompted to put in the bid after reading that Cancer Research could not use the hall properly any more due to the kitchen being condemned so he submitted the document to Waveney District Council and then set about putting together a group of people to form a board of trustees.

Tony Goldson (Chair) is a county councillor and a leading member of the playing fields association and has a reputation for getting things done!!

Naomi Hawksley (Secretary) and Paul Martin (Treasurer) are both members of the Halesworth Lions and both individually and together have organised and run many fundraising events including the well known “Wings and Wheels” event at Henham Park.

Corrina Giles works on a freelance basis as a youth project organiser, her experience with community groups and volunteer groups is a valuable asset to the team.

Bernard Hill started life asking people to “Gis a job” and ended up crashing the Titanic, but is totally committed to the project.

Our Mission Statement

This team has been brought together because of their common interest in helping the community. We are all dedicated to the concept of self help and we all have a proven track record for our community work within the town. We will strive to make this project a stunning success and an asset the town can be proud of.

We will be totally transparent with the management and finances and will publish the accounts annually. We will pursue this project as a non–political community lead group for the benefit of the town as a whole. Above all we want to preserve this historic building for the use it was intended by bringing it into the 21st Century. We will not entertain the concept of selling it off in order to build some soulless new building elsewhere in Halesworth. The Rifle Hall’s guaranteed future will be our mission.
